It is with a sense of sadness that we mark the closure of Moby Dicks, which closed its doors on the 1st of January 2026, as owners Kevin and Bríd begin their well earned retirement.
For many years, Moby Dicks was much more than just a pub to the people of Youghal. It was a place to meet, to talk, and to feel at home. It was a familiar and welcoming part of the town, where people came together to celebrate special moments or simply enjoy each other’s company.
Moby Dicks also holds an important place in Youghal’s history. The pub was featured during the filming of the 1956 Gregory Peck movie “Moby Dick” giving it a lasting link to a world famous film and adding to its cultural importance.
Inside its doors, friendships were formed and memories were made. From lively nights to quiet conversations, Moby Dicks offered a warm and friendly space where everyone felt welcome. The stories created there will be remembered for many years to come.
We would like to thank Kevin and Bríd for their dedication, kindness, and years of service to the community. Through their hard work, they created a place that meant so much to so many.
As they move into this next chapter of their lives, we wish Kevin and Bríd good health, happiness, and every success. While Moby Dicks is now closed, its place in the heart of Youghal will always remain. Sláinte.
