Matt Brooker – Photographer in Youghal, County Cork

I have had an interest in photography for as far back as I can remember, following in my father’s footsteps. When I moved to the picturesque coastal town of Youghal in 2015 I was inspired to reinvigorate my photography and make the most of the surrounding coastline and countryside.

In addition to landscape photography I particularly enjoy portraiture and wedding photography. I have undertaken a number of assignments for businesses – for website and social media content – events, and studio work for make-up artists’ portfolios. Portrait sessions for individuals, family events and Communions has also been popular and being able to shoot outdoors has been a blessing during Covid (when guidelines have permitted).

In 2020, when the Covid pandemic took hold I decided to help raise much-needed funds for the local branch of a wonderful charity operating throughout Ireland: The Society of Saint Vincent De Paul. Through sales of framed prints and canvases, shoots for portraits, events and websites, and a 2021 calendar – thanks to generous support – I raised approximately €17,000 for the charity to date. Whilst I now have my private Wedding and Family photography business, I continue to support SVP, producing a 2022 calendar as featured in The Echo newspaper.
