This Saturday, 7th of December, is going to be a special day for Youghal. We’re going to have the official opening of the new Umbrella Project on Nealon’s Quay. So to celebrate, there’s going to be a Christmas Crafts Market from 12pm until 5pm, under the umbrellas. In addition, the official opening will be taking at 3pm with Mayor Sammy Revins being given the honours of opening the umbrellas.
The market will provide a wide range of foods and products, all to help everyone get into the festive mood. Maybe this will become a new annual tradition for the town, a Christmas Market every year. You have to admit, that definitely sounds appealing.
Oh and just for the kids, there will be a free Santa in the Mall Arts Centre!
Now, here’s an interesting fact about the umbrellas and how they’re designed. The shape of each umbrella funnels water into their pillars and allows the rainwater to be drained elsewhere. And with the varying heights of the umbrellas, they’ll be able to cover a greater area.
We’d love to see you come down and celebrate with us. It’s going to be fun and the start of something exciting for Youghal.
